Dear Hiring Committee,
My name is Cory Olson, and I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts degree focused Design. I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in the Designer position at Eastern New Mexico University. I believe in the power of education and community to transform lives, I am excited about the possibility of contributing to your mission. I am from Texas (don’t hold it against me!) and I was introduced to New Mexico through my girlfriend who was born in Albuquerque. It might sound corny, but I fell in love with your beautiful state as I fell in love with her. We are hoping to relocate to the area so that she can attend law school at the University of New Mexico and your company's listing piqued my interest.
I am uniquely prepared for this job because I have graphic design experience. See the materials I designed for my campus's UX club. I created promotional and marketing materials for events that attracted 200 students and made presentations designed to educate and inform students at the events.
I also have experience in UX Design using Figma with a specific focus on how to bring exceptional user experiences to nonprofits. I have coding experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also have a keen eye for developing and matching brand identities.
I want to advance the goals of ENMU further by making my designs extremely attractive and readable to everyone in your audience and prospective audience. I will take critiques very well. I will approach everything I do with empathy and be extremely coachable and curious. I would love to talk more about y’all’s goals for this position. As you can imagine would be very excited to talk and learn more about the goals of this position.
