Context
As an avid music enthusiast, I set out to explore how user interfaces shape our music consumption habits. I wanted to design a prototype of a music player that breaks free from the algorithm-driven experience of platforms like Spotify. Inspired by the resurgence of vinyl and physical media, I aimed to create a music player that fosters intentional listening while incorporating vintage aesthetics, such as 3D scrolling effects and album cards reminiscent of the iPod experience. The project also addresses the gap in artist engagement for users who do not use social media.
Problem Statement
Modern music streaming platforms often prioritize algorithms over genuine exploration, leading to repetitive recommendations and minimal financial support for lesser-known artists. While physical media, such as vinyl, offer rich artwork and exclusive content, they lack digital convenience. Additionally, music-related content—such as live performances and interviews—is scattered across various platforms. This project seeks to redefine digital music interaction by emphasizing intentional discovery, artist support, and immersive engagement.

Inspired by the iconic iPod click wheel and the circular nature of CDs and vinyl, I designed an interactive album wheel that allows users to visually explore their music collection. The shareable wheel format enhances music discovery by making album recognition seamless.
